TRACHES provides a scalable, sustainable approach to tracheostomy care. The digital TRACHES toolkits empower patients and healthcare professionals to do the basic, high-value things well, improving outcomes for patients and supporting self-management for those living with a tracheostomy in the community, and their family/ carers.

Why TRACHES?

  • Improved patient safety and far fewer adverse events
  • Patients empowered to manage their tracheostomy better, avoiding unscheduled care
  • Improved efficiency and significant cost savings, including reduced LOS, reduced time to cuff deflation and decannulation, and potential savings £27k per admission/ £1.9m per Trust (NIHR ref)
  • Ward teams, AHPs, Primary and Community Teams, all have higher levels of competency, skills, knowledge, and confidence
  • Visibility of uptake and patient outcomes across the whole health system

Chaired by Professor Brendan McGrath from the National Tracheostomy Safety Project and featuring leading tracheostomy experts from across the UK, this one-hour event will showcase the impact TRACHES is already having in health systems and demonstrate how this fully joined-up toolkit can work for your area.
