This ICST Tracheostomy Toolkit

Large-scale adoption through behaviour change.

Tracheostomy care across the UK has varied outcomes, with studies finding wide variation and significant failings in the provision of tracheostomy care.

In many healthcare environments there are high rates of avoidable harms and adverse events, caused by poor infrastructure of tracheostomy services, lack of suitable equipment and undertrained healthcare professionals and carers. These defects can have major repercussions, on demand and financial, for the wider health service.

The ICST Tracheostomy Toolkit provides a solution to these problems, with the ability to provide far greater analysis of how patients are being cared for in hospital, community and social care, as well as self-management, the regularity and location of use of the different components of the toolkit and the potential for future developments.
